Family from USA

A senior member of staff was moving to the UK from Washington DC with his wife, teenage son and two dogs.

Key priorities

The family wanted their son to continue his education within the American system.
The client's office would be relocating within one year of moving, so home and school would have to be convenient for both locations.

First step

Our Client Account Manager contacted the relocatee, and emailed our comprehensive Pre- Relocation Guide and Personal Details Questionnaire. The family was then allocated a personal Relocation Consultant who telephoned the family to discuss potential areas and schools.

Next step

On his next business trip, the husband had an Orientation tour to preview the two possible schools and the associated housing areas he had selected. The Relocation Consultant then searched for a selection of suitable houses. These had to be close to the schools, within walking distance of a railway station for commuting. The Landlord also had to allow pets.

Final choices

Six weeks before the planned move, RSG arranged and accompanied the family to school visits and interviews. This was combined with a comprehensive Itinerary of house viewing. A school was chosen and an application made. The family also shortlisted three possible homes and eventually agreed on one particular property.

The Relocation Agent put in first a verbal then formal written offer. This was accepted.

Administrative support

With the family back in the USA, RSG completed the administrative side of the relocation, liaising with the family and advising on the Tenancy Agreement.

Moving in

The Relocation Consultant met with the Inventory Clerk and checked the Inventory. She also purchased essential groceries for the Kitchen and arranged for temporary rental furniture to be delivered to the house, since the family's furniture would be in transit for some weeks.

When the family arrived, she was there to greet them and hand over the keys to a furnished house where even the beds had been made. The family pets would arrive later.

Aftercare

The Relocation Consultant was available by telephone to help with settling in and was able to assist with a number of enquiries about the area and its amenities.
